10.24.2002 :: Fair-Isle Socks?

This sock pattern and photo is from the little Vogue Knitting on the Go - Socks book (the first one). The pattern specifies a certain brand of yarn that is no longer available under the original label but is quite nicely replicated with the substitution of either Jamieson Shetland Spindrift or the Jamieson & Smith 2-ply jumper weight yarn.
Jamieson & Smith sells their yarn directly. The Jamieson's can be found at various places (I just bought some from the lovely Colorful Stitches shop in Lenox, MA)
And as one ASOFian pointed out, substitute your favorite fair-isle pattern as desired!

Hi! I was thinking of making those socks too -- I can't wait to see what yours look like. Are you using similar colors or creating your own color palette?

Hi Mary - I don't have that book, what yarn does it specify and also next time you look at it, how many stitches around is the leg and on what needles? I'm trying to figure out if I need the book or if I can make up my own to match my favorite sweaters.
