03.12.2003 :: A Luskentyre Swatch

Flavor of the Week: Luskentyre

I've been working on the Luskentyre sweater from A Scottish Collection for many years now. It's getting to be an old and boring story! I have to get myself motivated to finish this sweater as I'm sure it's going to be very pretty.

The colors remind me of ice cream - chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, orange creamsicle, black raspberry. Yum.

03/13/03 - Update to Post:
I'm using the original AS Campion yarns for Luskentyre. Yes, it's true, when I started this project, The Scottish Collection had just been published, was available for $14.95, and AS yarns were for sale in a yarn store that used to be within walking distance of my house.

Too bad that none of these things are true anymore! Especially the part about the yarn store within walking distance. Of course, that would be very dangerous to the balance in my checking account!

Well no wonder you have trouble finishing it - I bet you have to get up and have ice cream after a row or two!

Well, we can do to you what FiberTraditions is doing to me to get me to finish my other sock! Come on Mary, all that ice cream is gonna melt if you don't get it all done. I really really love the color combinations in this. I put together one Bair Isle vest out of these colors, but can't remember who it went to. I wonder if they ever knit it!

HI Mary!

What yarn are you using for this? Did you go with the J&S? I always like the look of this sweater whenever I see it. I bought yarn from J&S according to a chart from the KBTH site, but when I got the yarn and it was all sitting in a pile on the table, it didn't look anything like what I think the pictures of this look like.

Thanks!

Grace

Oh Mary - Luskentyre is so much better looking in real-life!

Keep at it, and if you ever come to Vancouver and bring Luskentyre, I will take you to La Casa Gelato. Every flavour you could possibly want, and some you don't!

Hey Mary!
Nice work on Lusky! How's the progress now? I think this is definitely one sweater where the pattern looks best at a slight distance! I remember doing a few rows of this from my kit and thinking "what the Hell is THIS?" :) (shove back in drawer..)

Have fun with it and let us know how it's going, eh? g
