04.15.2003 :: Spring Inspiration

hippy roving

I'm addicted. To spinning. I should have known it would happen since it provides a great color/texture fix. I purchased a used Ashford Traditional wheel on ebay and have been spending lots of time with it. I had a pile of plain Corriedale roving, so after spinning three skeins of natural, I started fooling around with the dyes that I had on hand - kool-aid and easter egg pellets.

This picture is of a small bit that I rainbow dyed with easter egg colors, except for the yellow which is lemonade kool-aid colored.

Ooh Mary it's pretty! I have been looking at spinning wheels too so I may be following you down this path! I would love to see a picture of your wheel and hear about how it's been to learn to use it.

Yay, Mary!!! I'm so excited for you! With your artistic talent, I can't wait to see the colors and kinds of yarn you come up with! The koolaid colors are yummy. Are you sure this site isn't just a subliminal advertisement for ice cream and sherbet?

Gorgeous, Mary!! Easter egg dye pellets, you say? I haven't tried them...yet! Have you spun any up yet? I can't wait to see the yarn.
