09.17.2003 :: Checkers

click me for a closeup, babyOne sleeve of Checkers is complete. I love the yarn and it's fun knitting for the "goal-oriented" knitter. The expectation of the next color sequence and the knowledge that each block is only 24 rows, keeps the knitting humming along.

I bought the kit for Checkers at Stitches West earlier this year. I also bought the SWAK intarsia book to keep me company. This sweater is very easy intarsia - since the color changes only occur on the vertical or horizontal.

I've been using the weaving in method described in the SWAK book. It's neat and clean, but I may modify it a bit for the dark yarn on light block situations.

The weaving method even leaves a design of it's own. Cool. Your photos are beautiful, Mary. :)

This design is so colourful and chirpy! And your photos look like they belong in a magazine. Very nice :o)
