10.10.2003 :: Recipe for Easter Egg...

Recipe for Easter Egg Yarn.
Take some easter-egg-pellet-dyed pink roving and spin up a bobbins worth of singles. Then take some easter-egg-rainbow-dyed roving and spin that into another bobbins worth of singles. Ply. Fun. Very pink and pastelly. Next up, jewel tones!
As requested, here is a what this yarn looks like knit up into a very large swatch. I may just continue this as a scarf.

I was surprised to see the stripes, though it makes sense because the colors were introduced at regular intervals while spinning the rainbow single.
To dye the fiber I used a combination of the kool-aid directions found around the web and the rainbow dyeing instructions in the Twisted Sisters Sock Book.

Wow, you've really gotten to be a good spinner! Everything is so consistent and even! Maybe I'll get there someday?

No fair, now I wanna spin even more. Do I have time? No! Do I have the money to throw at it? No! Can I resist temptation? No!

Hi Mary - can you post instructions on how to easter egg dye? Same as Kool-Aid - make a strong solution and microwave? Hug Spence for me - I can't decide who's cuter: Spence or Tate (from Threadbear Fiberarts).

Pink yarn... you're so sweet,
You look good enough to eat,
How I love your multi-pastel hues,
And you're pretty at every view.
