11.24.2003 :: Mitts

Finished the mittens, knit with the yarn that I spun from the Indigo Moons fiber that I bought at Rhinebeck. The yarn is merino, silk and either alpaca or llama. It's so very soft and delicious. I use the mitten pattern from Ann Budd's book that I referred to in a post from a couple of days ago. I changed the top decreases and finished off the top of the mittens more like a sock toe.
I'm knitting up a hat with the remaining yarn - I think I may have just enough.
Just in time for the imminent snow!

Lovely. Items from handspun are extra special.
I believe all of the Indigo Moon batts have the same blends... it's alpaca/merino/silk.

Hi Geane - Yeah - these are for me. It looks like I only have enough yarn leftover for a kid's hat, so one of the little one's in my family will be getting a hat from this. It'll be good for a kid, too, because it's very soft.

Hi there, Mary. I just caught up on your blog. I'm so intrigued by your "spinning." I think I may start to look into it. Then I'll buy a farm, some sheep, lamas, alpacas, etc and just spin and knit all day long. I think I'll have to win the lottery first.
I really like your blog set up. I find mine a little limited. Who do you use?
If I don't speak to you before, Happy Thanksgiving.

Now I want to haul out the spinning wheel and do some more spinning, in the midst of trying to get all my holiday knitting done too. Beautiful mittens. I'm going to go look up Indigo Moon.

Mary, I love the colour. I'm such a sucker for pretty pastels and pink. The mitts are cute. Makes me wish we have winter here just so I can wear all the cool accessories.
