12.08.2003 :: A little bit of Florida

looking back from the Naples Pier towards shoreA little trip down to Florida to visit my parents. They kept complaining about how cold it was (high 60s). bougainvillea
But it was sunny and quite lovely. So many flowers and beautiful tropical foliage.

We took an afternoon trip to the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park and caught a couple of
these guys
napping.

The littlest alligators that we saw were about 9 to 12 inches long from tip to tail. baby alligator - he was chirping - which is incredibly cuteThere were three more that were about 24 inches long - like the little guy in the picture. And of course,
mamma
, was napping closeby. She had her back to us, but that doesn't mean that she wasn't paying attention!

Ooooooooo, love your pics! And I'm really diggin' their placement. The ideas are endless with you, aren't they? You go, girl. Glad you didn't fall in. (That's the kind of thing I worry about when viewing predatory wildlife. I guess that goes for predatory human life as well. teehee)

It's nice to see I'm not the only one with deluded parents in Florida. Our high temps in Oregon are lower than their low temps, and still my Mom and Mother In Law tell me how cold it is there. But then they both were cold here in the summer too. :-) I grew up there. I escaped.

Great photos! I am one of the few natives still left in Florida. When the temp drops below 80 we do get a bit chilly :-) Glad you enjoyed your visit here!
