12.12.2003 :: Finally Finished

I started these socks back in September and they have slowly progressed since then. Twelve hours of air travel over the past weekend got me right up to the finish line and last night I sewed in the ends and wa-la, they are complete.
Modeled most elegantly (cough) by Miss Francie and Mr. Lala.
The details: Twinkletoes hand painted yarn in the color 'Summer' from the Over the Rainbow Yarns ebay store. I mostly used Michelle's free pattern, but I did these toe-up instead of top down. Used US1 rosewood double point needles. The needles were chewed by Katy (see picture in left column of blog) halfway through the first sock, but only partially and I was able to recover all five, though one is about an inch and a half shorter than the others.
Update: One thing that really struck me about this yarn is that it came in one large skein (of which I still have a bunch left over) and there was not a single knot, break or slub in the yarn. The only ends that I had to sew in were at the start and finish of each sock.

There is nothing more irritating than finding knots in yarn. Natasha had at least one in EVERY ball. Ugh. Love the socks (and I just finished my LL's ~ woohoo!). Pretty kitties. :)

The socks are beautiful. Did you do a provisional or figure eight cast on?

Beautiful socks AND cats! I've done one sock so far based on Michelle's pattern, and I love the ribbing -- so neat and tidy. Great work. Thanks for the desktop graphics, too!

Lovely socks, and a great model! I have some of that yarn in another colourway. (I cannot remember what it was called.) I wound it into a great big ball and have been debating knitting a pair of socks or two, or just knitting a shawl. Maryann sure does a great job doesn't she?

Very pretty socks. Love your cats too! As "mom" of two cats myself, I had to laugh at the chewed needle. Hasn't happened here yet, but I guess I better keep an eye on my needles.!
