01.22.2004 :: Rip, rip, rip!

Yes, that's correct, I am loose. Or perhaps on the loose? Leigh caught my "alt" note on the photo of the sleeve which admitted that the sleeve had been ripped out once. The first ripping session (I say first, because there have now been two) was due to my late night misinterpretation of the directions for increasing the sleeve width. No evaluation of increase directions should be done after 10pm at my house. The increasing problem corrected, I began knitting the sleeve again. With the increases occuring at the expected rate, I realized that if I was to increase to the number of stitches that were recommended in the pattern, the result would be more like a pant leg than a sleeve!
So, I checked my gauge again and the truth was painful. Even on US6s I was still getting about 3.5 stitches per inch instead of the recommended 4. RRIIIPPP! I restarted the band and the sleeve using US3 needles for the band and US5 for the rest. I haven't progressed far enough to re-check the gauge, but I've got my fingers crossed that I'm going to be okay.

Good luck with it. Hoping this time around it's right on the mark.

I just love that Peace Fleece! I just might have to order some of that "Grass Roots". I Reeeaaalllyyy like the rustic feel of their yarn. I think it is one of my all time favorites. I like to think of it as manly yarn. Tee Hee...

Just bought some Peace Fleece today (will post about it soon). I was surprised that it was listed at 5 st/in, and I believe 12 wraps/in. I have been swatching all night. There's no way I could get 5 st/in.

I love the picture of your knitted Peace Fleece. What a wonderful color. I hate it when you cannot get gauge! Good Luck.
