02.24.2004 :: Gorgeous Inspiration

Browsing around the web, I ran across some amazing French knitters. Check out:
Sandrine
Franoise
Val
I've been visiting Sandrine's site for several years just to keep up with her finished projects (click on "Galerie", then browse using the links on the left side of the page). She picks projects that I would love to knit myself.
I found Franoise's site from Sandrine's links and again, another knitter finishing up or working on some of my favorite patterns. I was very interested to see her version of a complex aran pattern knit in a multi-colored yarn. At first that combination just doesn't sound right, but with the right stich pattern and the right shades of yarn, something spectacular can be created.
Val posts the most beautiful photos of her knitting. They capture a lovely mood and her photos and swatches really show off the subtle beauty of the tweedy Rowan yarns.
Check out the links to the other french knitters. If you don't speak French, don't worry. The pictures speak for themselves: sophisticated, accomplished, talented, knitters.

You can go to freetranslation.com, put in their web address and click translate French-English, and it will translate the page.
Sometimes all the words don't translate, but it is a big help!

Thanks for sharing the French blogs. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of their beautiful knitting. I think perhaps their projects are a little different than ours (but not a lot), because their fashion sense is a little different than ours (here in the US); but I very much enjoyed seeing what they're knitting and wearing.

If you go to Google and click on Language Preferences, there is a section where you can type in the English words, and they will translate them into other languages for you. Then you can copy and paste it into the comments on a foreign blog. Pretty neat, huh? C'est tres magnifique, a mon avis humble. Thanks for expanding our horizons, Mary.

Hi ! I want to thank you for your kind comments about my blog and photos. I put a link on mine towards yours, I like it ! Don't worry about languages, Sandrine, Françoise and I speek and understand english, so you can let a message or ask for everything in English. Our yahoo group is actually Triconordique but it's only french speeking and we focus on norwegian knitting and traditional knitting of " the isles of north" (Shetland, Hebridean, Iceland, Ireland and Arans).
Your website is great and I like your photos... and your socks !!!!
Seen you soon !

Thanks for the links! Seems like French knitting blogs would be a perfect way to revive my rusty French skills without all the boring stuff you find in textbooks...
