06.09.2004 :: A little bit of cuteness

Puppies are so cute. And Spencer was a little love bug as a pup - one of the cutest little dogs - he really did look like a live stuffed animal.
I was randomly browsing and ran across these Shar-pei puppies. This little "blue" one has got to be one of the cutest little shar-pei pups that I've ever seen. They are usually much too wrinkly for my taste.
You can click on the photo to see the rest of the puppies at the site. I have no idea who the breeder is and this
is not a recommendation. It's just a little bit of random puppy cuteness.
And, if you were wondering what or whom is a smooch? It's a pooch that loves to give kisses. The smooch is one of Spencer's nicknames. For example, Have you seen the smooch today? Does the smooch want to go for a walk? Is the smooch hungry? Do you think the smooch would like a cheeseburger? Could I get a smooch from the smooch? The answer to all of the questions is YES!
Fiber Stuff!

I dyed these rovings over the weekend. All done in the crockpot with the sampler dye kit that I bought from Halcyon Yarn. I've created stock solutions of all of the dyes and have been randomly mixing them to get some additional colors. The results are still not quite what I planned while picking the colors and applying them to the wool. But they are nice in an unexpected way. These three rovings are all from an eight ounce Romney roving that I bought at the Great Lakes Fiber Festival. It's nice wool to work with.
p.s. the fleece had an overnight cold water soak and is now in a hot water, Dawn soaked bath. It arrived on Tuesday. It smells so good. The whole fleece is not soaking - just a little part of it. As I pull it out of the box that it came in, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Crockpot dyeing is addictive, isn't it? How big is your crockpot?
That puppy looks fake! Are you familiar with Mr. Winkle?

Hehe..and you thought you might have a fiber addiction..wait until you start getting more fleeces..hehehehe. ;) I swear that whatever you pull out of the box to wash, twice as much grows back from the remaining fleece. :) I can't seem to ever stop washing fleece!

Looking at my poochies' puppy pictures gets me almost as teary as seeing the girls' baby pics!! sniff, sniff - why can't they stay that way?

What are you doing looking at puppy pictures???? Hum...sometimes I think ohh we can handle just one more ...but then I am quickly snapped back to reality!
Can I use a turkey roaster to dye fiber?

Those rovings look devine! How exciting - a whole fleece to yourself. I have often wondered how much wool you end up with after carding and spinning. I will check back to see!

Are you sure you didn't engage in a wee bit of photo enhancement magic in order to get The Love Bug shot? (I've always suspected you alter your knitting pics in order to hide all your dropped stitches. haha) What a sweet face!

Ahh, I see you joined the purling pups?!! :) teehee! Good for you! Yah puppies! Yah knitting! ( I may be going to hell for this, eh?)
Your roving is gorgeous!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the roving. Please don't let me get any more interested in spinning. The other day at the yarn shop this nice woman brought in some roving and some hand made spindles and taught us how to sping. I cannot! CANNOT start another hobby! LOL
Best wishes to Spencer.

Cute puppies and beautiful wool! I've got some undyed roving sitting around and you've inspired me to get off my butt and dye it! :-)
