10.23.2004 :: Moral Majority?
I was just thinking about how bizarre it is that while we have a religious zealot as our president and his administration is promoting sexual responsibility in the form of abstinence (piety?), we find ourselves increasingly surrounded and bombarded by soft porn as marketing. Many of the messages are coming from the same media outlets that promote this "pious" administration. I find it a striking contradiction.
From a relevent editorial:
The Bush administration apparently believes that abstinence is the only acceptable means of birth control. If people refrain from being abstinent, then they must suffer the consequences. Increasingly, one of the consequences is death.

I have noticed the soft porn issue. I bookmarked a link you had on this site to a site that talks about ad campaigns. (sorry not bookmarked on this computer so I don't have the name right now) but alot of the time the ads they discuss have alot of "boobala" (Sorry,I've spent time with the Yentala) and it does seem to be the norm. And it is really the norm in other countries. So your point is political ...I think there are tons of issues that work out like that and is a reason why alot of people get so turned off by politics. I think it is such a machine that it gets bigger than the average joe can take in. I am sure we would find something similar with Kerry in a few years of presidency.
