Maimu Mitten - Left Hand

January 13, 2005

Estonian Mitten

Sandy - thanks for the inspiration. This mitten was great fun to knit. I used the yarn specified in the pattern, Klippan Tuna. I had won this yarn in an ebay auction a couple of years ago, so I just made the best that I could out of the colors that I had on hand. I think it looks like a very regal colorway.

All things considered, this mitten didn't take too long to knit. Also, this picture shows the unblocked mitten. I haven't quite figure out the best way to block a mitten without using some kind of frame to insert inside and hold it's shape while it dries.

The matching mitten will soon follow. This is Maimu's Mitten from Nancy Bush's Estonian Knitting book.

I'm happy to see that I've missed several stealth posts because I was looking in the wrong place on the listings page! Happy new year, Mary - and give my regards to Katy and Ellie. I can't wait to see the other mitten :)

cool mitten, Mary--now I see where you got your tuna! That yarn looks like it makes a nice fabric.

I didn't realize you were posting--missed seeing what you were up to. Beautiful, beautiful pictures.
