03.24.2005 :: Full Size Shedir
The Shedir Hat from the Knitty Fall 04 Surprise supplement.
If you've knit Rogue or this hat, then you know that Jenna is a pattern designer extraordinnaire. The chart and instructions for this hat are flawless.
The yarn is Frog Tree Alpaca. Very soft but not very springy. I hope it snows at least one more time so that I can wear it!
Yes, Lisa, they are are traveling stitches - my favorite!

The hat is lovely - I knit Shedir in Calmer - and while it gave me craziness at times, in the end it was one of the most satisfying things I've knit.
One of the things I like best about yours is how different it looks with different yarn. Softer, much more romantic.

pretty! I too love the way it looks in the fuzzy alpaca. Is it pretty elastic at the bottom? when I've knit with alpaca it's gotten stretched fairly quickly. Maybe you have a secret trick (or magic alpaca) to prevent it?

I'm about halfway through a Shedir right now, in Calmer, as a surprise for a friend halfway through chemo. I'm enjoying it so much I'm already planning a mini-version for a friend's baby, and a version for myself! Yours looks great!
