03.28.2005 :: Resistance is Futile

dudley01.jpg

I tried to resist this roving. I've got the Lorna's Laces roving pre-drafted and halfway spun up and I kind of feel like I should finish it before starting on another spinning project...but...the colors in this roving are irresistible. So, what the heck. I'm going to predraft for the sheer fibery enjoyment of it!

You can see in the picture where I started pre-drafting the roving a bit (on the left). This was done about 20 seconds after I pulled it out of the box and when I should have been packing to leave on my trip. The delivery included two rovings. This one has a wider variety of colors in it. The other has more green in it, but we'll save that picture for another day.

(this roving is from the ebay seller dudleyspinner)

I'm catching up on some days I missed here. Your homespun was gorgeous! Can't wait to see what you do with this stuff. Re: Shedir - my wool/cotton is kind of pastel colors - light green, light blue, so I'm not sure whether to do it. It's in the back of my mind, though.

Oh - I liked the dudleyspinner roving I just spun up a LOT! (its the olive/purpley close up on my entry today). Yours are very pretty too...(*sniff* I checked and there aren't any new listings for them today...)

Yea, I just checked too & there's nothing available. If you think about it, I would love the list of sellers that you get your roving from. (I knew I should have jotted down your password & user name when I had the chance!)

Can't wait to see what this looks like spun up.

What beautiful roving. And your spinning is perfection!

Shhhh... Don't say that too loudly! We don't want to spread the word about dudleyspinner! I love their roving, and they only put out a little at a time. We don't want more people to find out about them! That would mean less for us! :) Seriously, their fiber is fabulous! Yummy!

Oh, I cannot wait for my wheel! Should I start a roving collection before it arrives? I think so! A question for you spinners out there: how much roving do you typically order, and do you have a project in mind or do you wait and see the finished product and wait for inspiration?

Lorna's laces roving?
The things you learn on a knitting blog. My budget was probably better off when didn't know about that.
It's stunning.

Mary,
I love the yarn and mitten.
Its a little strange to read about myself, 'dudleyspinner'. I should be posting some roving soon. Keep up the great spinning
