trekking socks

The trekking XL socks. I'll add the color number when I track it down. This was fun yarn to knit with, however to get the right gauge I had to use US000 needles! Just to get 8 stitches per inch. Criminy, I need to work on tightening up my knitting!

I use the Priscilla Gibson-Roberts (PGR) short row heel technique. Alison has just posted an excellent explanation/tutorial on the technique. I've tried a couple different short row heels and this one is definitely my favorite.

Saturday was the first day of the season for one of the local farmer's markets. Coincidentally, I was looking out for a cherry tomato plant to put in a container alongside my basil and snapdragons.

Friday night, at the grocery store, I picked up this sad sample of a cherry tomato plant.

Pick a tomato, Charlie Brown!

It's kind of the Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree of tomato plants.

But, the next day, at the farmer's market, I found this plant.

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful!

It's a beauty. The two plants sit in containers right next to each other. I'm hoping that they will compete to see which can produce the most tomatos! And, it will be interesting to see which plant produces the tastier tomatos.

Nice socks! I like your heels, too. I may need to try that method again. Thanks for sharing.

That tiny tomato plant could use some Miracle (Grow). Maybe it will be just like the commercials and be bigger in no time.

Pretty socks and a great way to pose in them!

Beautiful socks! Best of luck with the to-MAH-toes.

Wow, that is one robust tomato plant. It has a trunk like a tree!

Thanks for pointing me to that short row heel. I'll have to give that one a try.

Ooooo, nice colorway! Sliced tomatoes with fresh basil drizzled with balsamic vinegar and just a tiny dash of olive oil. Mmmmmmmmmm.

I love the socks, but how could you manage the p3tog thru back loop on 000 needles? that maneuver is something I just can't get in the yarn I'm using right now. I pulled out my heel three times and then decided to do an afterthought heel to avoid the issue until the main part of the 2nd one is finished.

Wow! 000s to get gauge. I do believe you're as loose as me. I know, this is how rumors get started. Those socks turned out spectacularly, worth battling those 000s.

ooh, I haven't seen that technique before. I like the results. Hmmm, *another* item of the list 'to learn'.

Love the socks...I'm knitting a pair (sans pattern...just making it up as I go — it's an exercise...and I'll have to try this technique on the next pair. They look great!
