10.16.2005 :: Warm Puppy

Ellie's sweater is mostly done! I'll probably never be able to recreate this sweater, since most of the short-rowing was done on an as needed basis - making it up as I went along.
You can tell in the second picture that this sweater is a bit tight across Ellie's chest and the leg openings are a little too small. I may sew down the fabric at the front of the legs and cut the openings a bit larger with scissors (as would be done with a steek). I was planning on doing a short cuff around the legs, so this could be an easy fix.
At the very least, I now have a good working model on which to base the sizing for future sweaters. As it turns out, Ellie's friend Pete fits into this sweater better than she does. He's just a little bit narrower around the chest and it's a perfect fit on him. Though he could use a little bit shorter length along the bottom since he's a boy!

very nice. i did notice that the collar isn't as long as you had described in your picture. and the length could have been a bit shorter. however, i agree with you on the chest/leg holes. however, very nice for a stab at it with no pattern. very nice indeed. are you going to give it to pete, or keep it for ellie?

Well doesn't Ellie look cute. She is already for the 'catwalk' or maybe that should be the dog walk! Great job on the sweater I really like how the front came together. Though I do think Ellie would look smashing in a darker colour.

Wow that's pretty, and you have such a cooperative model too!

Ellie looks like she likes it, which is what matters most - eh? I think it looks very handsome on her. It is inspirational to hear how you just designed it on your own.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Ellie has filmstar quality, look at that pose, it's just "Look at me, have you got my best side?"

Jeez, your dog oozes cutsie-pie, love-bug, darling-poo...and all snazzed up in that beautiful sweater to boot! Darling!

OMG - that is so adorable. you are my knitting hero!

I adore the sweater and the pooch. The design is fantabulous! I would love to knit up a little something for my pooch, Koshka, but she has a chest like a barrell and my hubby has forbidden it. There was an Elvis costume incident for which I have not yet beeen forgiven.

I am pretty sure that's the cutest dog in a sweater I've ever seen. Look at her little proud chest!!

I can't believe I missed this post - so glad I saw the real deal first, then on the "model". Great job, lucky Ellie! Good thing you got it done, because the chilly winds are blowing!

I can't believe I missed this one either. The sweater and pics AND Ellie are just incredible, Mary. Hope you had an uneventful trip back home -- and that home is still intact!

That came out pretty well! Did you have any trouble getting it on her?

Wow!! That turned out so great. I'm really impressed - to be able to knit that just to fit. Yeah, I do socks that way for myself but the dog sweater is just plain different. Beautiful! And she even looks happy wearing it. :)

What a handsome puppy in her sweater! Very nice job. I really like your photography too.

wow, that's amazing! I LOVE it. But my Luke is soooo furry, he would just be hot in a sweater, I think.
But it's a great job. Have you checked out MenKnit.net...they posted a new online magazine and I have a design in it! There's also a link on my blog!
