11.08.2005 :: In love with a sweater?
I think I would send this sweater fan mail:

Love it!
Ok - that was a good tease wasn't it! I searched around on yesasia.com and found the book thanks to the information posted on the montrealknits blog. If you click on that link, you'll be taken to the entry which has several pictures from the pattern book. Beautiful stuff!
Here is the pattern book: Book!
From the comments, I see that I am not alone in the worship of this sweater. Sounds like we may have a knit-along in the works. A nice, long, comfortable knit-along so we can figure out this sweater.
I placed an order for the book last night. I also have a series of German/Austrian pattern books which focuses mainly on this style of stitches. If you've knit Inishmore, than you know that this is a relatively easy knit - most of the wonderful design comes from the manipulation of one or two stitches at a time. Very knitable and well worth the effort!

That is stunning. It would probably take me about 5 years to knit something like that. ;)

Ditto! I have the perfect yarn for it too! How can we get the pattern? (Although I suspect it's written in a language I do not speak.)

Cool new look for you too! Love that sweater. It's such a tease.

Okay. Now you've got me obsessed. I've been thinking about yarn and a pattern and THIS IS IT! If we put our heads together, we could chart this thing. Couldn't we? Please? I'll sponsor the KAL.

You have good taste ;) If I recall (because I ran across that sweater myself) it's a Japanese cabled pattern - I think it has to be in this book, because that's the only one I have bookmarked. Now it's moving to the top of the must-knit list again.

I KNOW IT!! I just ordered the book a few days ago, and even though it is in Japanese, I'm hoping the charts are enough to design it for myself. Maybe between the many of us that want to try it (and my daughter's Japanese friend if she isn't too busy studying......)

I'm buying it RIGHT NOW! I would totally pay to have it translated for sure. Oh let's do it! This can be my birthday present to myself - of course I won't start it until January - but Please! Let's do it!
As I said, I'll totally host it. YAY! I'm SO EXCITED!

As long as you don't marry it ... ;)

That sweater is gorgeous! I'm curious to hear how the pattern works out in Japanese (hope the chart is in some universal-ese!).

And where would one find that sweater in it's natural habitat? I can't tell by the address.
:)
I share your love.
