11.20.2005 :: More swatches on the schedule

More yarn for swatches...

From left to right:

1. Jamieson's DK in Oyster - I'm curious how the swatch will look in a lighter color. Will probably go up a needle size (to a US5).

2. Alice Starmore Hebridean Three-ply in Tormentil - I have a feeling that this one is going to be really nice. A three-ply with rich colors. It's also very soft.

3. Jo Sharp 8-ply - I already finished this swatch. It turned out okay. I was kind of blah about it, but I'll reserve my final opinion until it's finished blocking. It's very nice yarn.

4. Cascade 220 in a heathered blue-green - I've also finished this swatch and it's blocking as well. Nice stitch definition and a very pretty color. This yarn is a contender!

I'll take the Hebridean, with a side of Cascade 220, and for desert, perhaps the Jamiesons...Just think how much all this swatching will help you in the future - are you keeping notes, (knitting notes - heehee)

I can't keep up with you! Can't wait to see them all. :)

I plan on torturing you right back with gorgeous swatches as soon as those German stitch dictionaries get here.

The color of the Hebridean Three-ply is amazing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it shows off the stitches beautifully.

Ooooo, that Alice Starmore yarn is so pretty.

They're all such lovely yarns. Do you have plans for all the swatches? If they're large enough, you could add some filler squares and put an afghan together for yourself.

Oh boy, that Hebridian Three-ply is making me drool! I am hoping that it will swatch as well as I suspect it will. Did you order it online through her Virtual Yarn site? How was that experience?

I'm loving the Starmore color!

And 2 gold stars, for you, on all of the swatching-to-be.

Thanks for doing this. I've been thinking of doing an Aran and swinging between Cascade 220 and Jamieson's Heather Aran. This is going to help me a lot.

Did you ever post about your Jo Sharp swatch? I didn't know you had done one, I just bought a ball today to swatch it. I am not having a boat load of luck in the swatching department and the Japanese Cardi. I love Peer Gynt, but it would be a bit small, so I would have to adjust the pattern and would be knitting a lifetime on it. It may be the yarn though, we will see......

So how did the Jo sharp come out? I used this yarn for a cabled sweater for my daughter and I loved the stitch definition on size 7's. I stashed this yarn heavily last year, so I'd love to see your swatch.

BTW, have you posted the width of yoru swatches? I haven't seen that.
